STEVEN & DONNA BOWEN
FOUNDING PASTORS
Together, Pastors Steven and Donna Bowen devoted their lives to leading Set Free Church in Powdersville, South Carolina, a ministry birthed from a deep passion to see lives transformed by the love and power of Jesus Christ. They are the proud parents of Stefanie (married to Kevin Ridley), Aaron (married to Maggie Bowen), and Evan Bowen, and the beloved grandparents of eight grandchildren.

Pastor Steven A. Bowen, founder of Set Free Church, was a father in the faith to churches and ministries across the South and beyond. He began by teaching Sunday school and playing in the church band, later expanding his influence through pastoral leadership, nonprofit support, and missions—especially in the Dominican Republic. Known as a “pastor of pastors,” he earned his Master of Theology in 2018 and was marked by humility, wisdom, and vision. Though he passed in December 2023, Set Free Church remains a living legacy of his ministry.​
Pastor Donna Bowen has served faithfully in ministry from a young age and was instrumental in the founding and flourishing of Set Free Church. Known for her deep compassion and heart for the hurting, she has always had a special love for children and parents—ensuring that everyone, from the youngest infant to the most wounded soul, encountered the love of Jesus. Her life is a reflection of grace, strength, and steadfast faith.
JERMAINE & STEPHANIE EASTERWOOD
INTERIM PASTORS
Pastor Jermaine Easterwood, a dedicated mentor, author, husband and father, is known for his unwavering COMMITMENT to guiding and nurturing young individuals on their spiritual journeys. With a profound understanding of the challenges faced by today's youth, he has become a trusted figure, offering wisdom, support, and encouragement. Jermaine is a HBCU grad of South Carolina State University, who prides himself on compassionate leadership and insightful guidance. Pastor Jermaine Easterwood strives to make a profound impact, both spiritually and economically, in the lives of those he serves. Pastor Easterwood is the founder of Committed Academy, a character-building program for at risk youth, created to teach soft skills to promote economic mobility. The best word to describe Jermaine is, SERVANT!
ELIJAH O’SHIELDS
INTERIM YOUTH PASTOR
Pastor Elijah is 20 years old and currently studying Psychology at North Greenville University. He was born and raised at Set Free Church, and his heart for ministry is to lead, love, and develop a generation that is hungry for truth found in God’s Word and to help nurture the gifts found in relationship with Christ. He is passionate to help young believers grow in their faith and walk boldly in their calling. Whether it’s hiking through the mountains or skiing down them, he loves spending time outdoors when he’s not serving. He is grateful for the opportunity to serve, and looks forward to seeing this generation rise up in faith, purpose, and the power of God’s love.
